Sitting too long is bad for health

When you sit the whole day at your desk, you probably have some idea that it is not good for your health and your weight.

A new study published online in European heart journal, found that people who for a long time to sit not counting short breaks, higher risk of heart disease compared to those the more frequent breaks to get up and running around to take.

Surprisingly, the researchers found that even if you the gym regularly, the negative effects of long bouts of inactivity also apply.

Genevieve Healy, the cancer prevention research center, University of Queensland, Australia, said:

Even if you exercise for 30 to 60 minutes a day, what you do can for the rest of the day also important for your cardio vascular health... This research suggests that even small changes to a person [less than regularly to get up] activity level could help to reduce cardiovascular risk. These changes can be easily integrated in the person usage [including the workspace]. Stand up, move more, increasingly used could be slogan to convey this message
The researchers used data from U.S. national health and nutrition examination survey, containing approximately 4,800 American men and women between the ages of 20 and above.Participants were equipped with an accelerometer on your hip to monitor a week's worth of hiking, running and routines to sit. Also looked researcher at measurements, and others, waist circumference, blood pressure and Cholesterinspiegel.Bei extreme were most seated participants found a little more than 21 hours a day, sitting, while the least settled less than two hours per day. Least activity breaks during a week in fact amounted to less than 100, while most per breaks registered to almost 1,300.Triglyceride much higher levels below the most sedentary, those were the most breaks when signs of insulin Resistenz.Insgesamt were from the sitting took (even if you spent much time being sedentary) with the smallest waists found.Getting up and a walk across the room may seem pointless, but it seems that short activity breaks just like that are very beneficial for health.

So, what can you do, be more active all day?

To stand while on the phone or in a meeting.Go to see your colleagues face to face, instead of an email, or you go to.If possible, use the stairs to the toilets, such as access.Be more active principle, wherever you can.
